My Own Special Star, Ollee

Once upon a time, in a remote country village, there lived a very kind-hearted child named Sarang. Sarang’s favorite thing to do was to open her window every night and look up at the sky. This was because, up in the sky, there was a special star named ‘Ollee’ that shone only for her.

Ollee was a very special star. While other stars shone yellow or white, Ollee glowed in the color of a squishy puppy paw pad. It was a very soft and sweet-looking color, like a mix of pink and purple. (Just like the cute jelly color you see in pictures!)

Most of all, Ollee always looked only at Sarang, as if she were the only person in the entire world. When Sarang smiled, Ollee twinkled brightly, and when she was sad, Ollee grew a little dim. Ollee’s whole world revolved around Sarang.

Then one day, the moment of parting came for Sarang. She had to leave her beloved home and travel far away to study and learn about the wider world.

On her last night, after packing all her bags, Sarang opened the window as usual. Up in the sky, Ollee was still sending its soft, paw-pad-colored light down to her. Tears welled up in Sarang’s eyes, but she smiled bravely and said:

“Thank you for everything, Ollee. I’m going to step out into the wider world now.”

As if understanding her words, Ollee blinked even more softly and warmly than usual. It seemed to say, “Don’t worry, I will always be right here.”

Waving one last time, Sarang said her final goodbye in a small but firm voice:

“Bye, Ollee.”

At that moment, Ollee burst forth with its biggest and most beautiful light, blessing Sarang’s future. Keeping Ollee’s warm light deep within her heart, Sarang set off toward the new world.

Even though they were far apart, Sarang knew. Whenever and wherever she looked up at the sky, Ollee—the affectionate puppy paw star who only had eyes for her—would always be shining right there.
